Important Message from HIVCO's CEO

The HIV Coalition (HIVCO) is one of the oldest and largest providers of HIV education, information and referral, food, and networking services in the suburbs of Chicago. HIVCO is a not-for-profit AIDS service organization founded in 1987 by the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore and the Cook County Department of Public Health. This year marks our 15th year of service to suburban and rural communities outside Chicago impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Hand-to-Hand Food Network
HIVCO's Hand-to-Hand Food Network fills the food and nutrition needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS in 11 counties in northern Illinois. In 2000, Hand-to-Hand volunteers delivered monthly non-perishable food boxes to more than 400 clients.

Prevention Services
The focus of HIVCO's prevention program is to provide forums for HIV-positive individuals to learn risk reduction tools, including one-on-one counseling and support groups, and to offer HIV and STD testing to the partners of participants.

Volunteer Opportunities
HIVCO is completely dependent upon volunteers, and we need your special talents to help us accomplish our goals and carry out our mission. HIVCO volunteers serve as drivers, warehouse personnel, food packers, and food raisers. Volunteers also assist with a variety of projects in our Elk Grove Village and Midlothian offices.

For more information on how you can volunteer for HIVCO, please browse our Web site or call in Elk Grove Village or in Midlothian.
